Special Days at Summer Recreation
Mark your calendar for the following special days and activities at Summer Rec:
- Library Storytime - Mon., June 19, 26, July 10 and 17
Kids in kindergarten and first grade will be escorted to the Green Tree Public Library at for a storytime, crafts and games.
- Science Day - Thursdays
On June 22, June 29, July 6, July 20, and July 27 a special, hands-on science program at the Wilson Pavilion will be offered.
- Pool Day - Fridays
Every Friday is Pool Day at Summer Recreation (weather-permitting). Rec begins one hour later on Fridays, at 10:00 a.m. and children should come in their bathing suits for wet fun and games. The concession stand will be open if you wish to send money with your child for a snack.
- Surprise Craft Days - July 11 & July 24
Nothing like a surprise! These days offer surprise crafts for kids to expand their creativity and have some innovative fun.
- Tie Dye Day - Tues., June 27
Children will be given a Green Tree Summer Recreation t-shirt to tie dye and may bring an additional shirt or pillowcase to tie dye. Tie dye paint permanently stains, so dress in old clothes this day.
- Crazy Hat/Hair Day - Thurs., June 29
Winner in each age group will win a prize!
- Field Trip to the GT Police Dept - Wed., July 12
Children in grades K-3 will take part in a GT Police Department tour.
- Face Painting Day - Thurs., July 13
- Card Making Day - Wed., July 19
Cards for seniors made to be distributed to Green Tree Meals on Wheels and Marion Manor.
- Superhero Day - Mon. July 24
Come to Rec dressed up like your favorite superhero!
- End of Summer Rec Pizza Pool Party - Fri., July 28
Pizza and drinks, along with pool games on the last day of Summer Rec.
SPECIAL REC SKILLS
Summer Rec Participants will have the opportunity to learn new skills.
- Intro to Yoga - July 5, 12, and 19
Separate times for different age groups to try out some yoga. If your child does not want to do yoga, we will have a different activity for him/her.
- Soccer Skills & Drills - Wednesdays
Teaching soccer skills to interested participants by Summer Rec Counselors who play on the KO High School soccer teams.
- Basketball Skills & Drills - Tuesdays
Teaching basketball skills to interested participants by Summer Rec Counselors who play on the KO High School basketball teams.
