Green Tree Borough Offices and the Green Tree Public Library are CLOSED both Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Green Tree Welcomes New Chief of Police

Mayor Edward Schenck officiated the swearing in of Green Tree's new Chief of Police, Colin Cleary. Chief Cleary assumed his duties on Monday, November 9, 2015. Colin served in the United States Army Military Police Corp for six years, and then joined the Harrisburg Bureau of Police where he served for 22 years, most recently as the Captain of the Uniformed Patrol Division. A public swearing in ceremony will take place at the regularly scheduled council meeting on Monday, December 7th in the Sycamore Room of the Green Tree Municipal Center at 7:30 p.m. A reception will follow with refreshments. Please plan on attending to give Chief Cleary a big Green Tree welcome!

Light Up events include the official lighting of the Borough Christmas Tree, performances by Nina Sainato, Pittsburgh Musical Theater featuring their Extreme Team Broadway, Aiken Elementary School, and Cub Scouts and Girl Scout troops. Come hungry for a buffet cookout of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips & drinks, plus cookies coffee & hot chocolate by the Salvation Army. Also featuring Ice carvings by Ice Creations, Ray Lucas the Balloon Artist, a holiday train show by Paul Linko, free face painting, temporary tattoos & popcorn by the GT RCA Board, a Holiday Instagram Booth by the GT Library, a free children's holiday craft by the GT Woman's Civic Club, free caricature drawings by M.C. Sturman, raffles, and, of course, a special visit from Santa & Mrs. Claus!

The next scheduled Green Tree Borough Council meeting will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sycamore Room of the Green Tree Municipal Center. A Public Meeting for the proposed 2016 budget will be held, plus the installation of Colin Cleary as Chief of Police. The public is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
